Exploring Your Child's Needs
Helping you find the answers
You may have noticed that your child is struggling but feel unsure about what is happening or where to begin. Perhaps school has raised concerns, you are noticing possible signs of ADHD or autism, or your child already has a diagnosis but you feel there may be more to understand.
This parent-only consultation offers time to explore your concerns as a whole, rather than looking at one behaviour or difficulty in isolation. Ellie will help you make sense of what you are noticing, consider factors that may be contributing and identify appropriate next steps
What we may explore:
-
The behaviours, traits or difficulties you have noticed
-
Your child’s development, health and existing diagnoses
-
Attention, activity levels and emotional regulation
-
Social communication, sensory differences or anxiety
-
Sleep and its possible effect on behaviour and concentration
-
How your child manages at home and school
-
Whether further assessment or professional input may be helpful
-
Practical next steps, resources and sources of support

Child & Young Person Consultation
A supportive place to talk and feel heard
Children and young people do not always feel able to discuss their experiences with family, school or clinical professionals. This consultation offers a calm, non-judgemental space where they can feel listened to and supported at their own pace.
Sessions are shaped around the individual child or young person. They may want to understand a recent diagnosis, explore why certain situations feel difficult or work towards a personal goal. Depending on their age, needs and preferences, they may attend independently or with a parent or carer.
What we may explore:
-
What ADHD, autism or neurodivergence means for them
-
Their individual strengths, differences and support needs
-
Feelings about a diagnosis or possible assessment
-
Emotions, anxiety and overwhelm
-
Friendships and social situations
-
Sensory experiences
-
Challenges at school or home
-
Self-esteem and feeling different from others
-
Personal goals and practical ways to work towards them
-
How to communicate their needs to others
ADHD Medication Information Consultation
Clear, balanced information with time to answer all your questions.
Deciding whether to explore ADHD medication can bring up many questions. Families are often expected to make decisions following a short clinical appointment, without enough time to fully understand the available options.
Drawing on her experience as an ADHD specialist nurse and qualified prescriber, Ellie offers a supportive space to discuss general questions about ADHD medication. The aim is to help you understand the potential benefits and drawbacks, organise your questions and feel better prepared when speaking with your child’s prescriber.
This is an information consultation. Medication is not prescribed through Beyond the Box, and Ellie will not advise you to start, stop or change your child’s medication.
-
How the main types of ADHD medication work
-
Potential benefits and limitations
-
Common side effects and monitoring
-
Concerns about personality, dependence or long-term use
-
What medication can and cannot be expected to change
-
Questions to ask your child’s prescriber
-
How to involve your child in the conversation
-
Non-medication support alongside treatment
